Local goes from Glencoe Boat Club to the 2024 America’s Cup!
We’d like to share some fantastic news regarding a great achievement by a young sailor from Glencoe.

Ruaridh Mills, who was born and brought up locally in Ballachulish, started his sailing career at Glencoe Boat Club in the successful Community sailing program. Ruaridh went on to sail with his family and others locally before representing GBR in the Scottish Sailing Squad both in the UK and overseas.
More recently Ruaridh has been racing at the 2024 America’s Cup in Barcelona as a professional sailor on one of the World’s most famous racing yachts, the J class Velsheda.
We’re delighted to see Ruaridh sail Velsheda which came 2nd in the J class Barcelona Regatta 2024, and were awarded Overall Winners of the 2024 season.
Take a bow Ruaridh, we’re all very proud of you and your magnificent achievements.
Local Volunteer Belle Jessop of Artisan Cafe in Tyndrum has begun a Researcher in Residence post with us to help document Glencoe Boat Club history. As a globally iconic location, this is of immense value to many far and wide as well as our own members and we are grateful!
Belle would find it really helpful to hold short interviews with members; long standing members as well as new members, and discuss club history; the history of sailing and rowing in Scotland; and local viewpoints about why a Boat Club is important to our community.
