The Skiff

The Glencoe Boat Club Skiff Project began in 2018 when the club decided to buy a St Ayles skiff kit and build the boat from scratch. But first, a suitable boat shed had to be purchased and built…

Luckily, we have a master boat builder among our membership! David Southcott (ex-Commodore of the Club) has so far spent 300–350 hours constructing the skiff (with a little bit of help from other Club members).

As we approach the final stages of the build (just the epoxy, sanding and painting to do, when temperatures permit), the planning begins for our first season of rowing.

We’re planning to hold a naming and launching ceremony in March/April 2020. More details will appear here and on our ‘be part of the skiff team’ page – so watch out for further announcements. If you fancy having a shot at rowing, please get in touch!
