Ardgour Day Muster Saturday 30 May (reserve Sunday 31 May)

Please note that, with preparations for our 12/13 June Regatta in full swing, this muster may yet be postponed to a later date, so please email if you’re thinking of going so we can keep everyone informed.

Wednesday night informal sailing may also be affected by Regatta preparations, so we’d also recommend emailing to see if that’s happening.

Making use of similar tide times to our former ‘Ardgour Double’ day of yacht racing there and back, the Ardgour Day Muster brings an interesting ‘mini adventure’ through the tidal gates at Ballachulish Bridge and Corran Narrows with visitors’ moorings and possibly food ashore (NB the Inn at Ardgour still seems to offer just evening menu) but, as a muster rather than racing event, is of course open to Club craft of all kinds.

Predicted tide times are for the scheduled date of Saturday 30 May and would of course be a little later on the following (reserve) day.

Oban tides (BST)
HW 05:46 3.5
LW 12:19 1.2
HW 18:10 3.7

Note that, while these are basically spring tides, they’re quite small for springs although awareness of the following gates (all times BST and predicted approximations) is still vital:

The tide is favourable out through Ballachulish Bridge from 06:46 till 12:55.
The tide is favourable northwards through Corran from 12:10 till 18:15.
The tide is favourable southwards back through Corran from 18:15*.
The tide is favourable back in through Ballachulish Bridge from 12:55 till 19:10.

*With approximately five nautical miles from Corran Narrows back to Ballachulish Bridge via Cuil-cheanna Spit buoy or four cutting the corner as tightly as you’d want to go, most participants may wish to leave Ardgour a little earlier against the last of the northbound tide.

Sunset is at approximately 21:56 BST.

We welcome participants of all experience levels and can probably ‘buddy’ anyone unsure of the ground or tides.

We might be able to offer a pre-departure onshore briefing on the day if requested.
