Exciting Plans for 2025 approved at AGM

Glencoe Boat Club AGM January 2025

Thank you members!

Over 40% of members turned out, or gave apologies for this years AGM. An outstanding level of engagement on this stormy, challenging weekend. Thank you all. One member even drove an 8 hour round trip to join us at this years AGM!

Your commitment, contributions, and feedback on the plans proposed for 2025 to continue to grow our club are invaluable.

Copies of minutes of this years AGM will be made available to members soon, and news will be published on our blog and shared in members e-bulletins in the coming weeks.

Thank you for Our First ‘Love Our Club’ Day!

Thank you for Our First ‘Love Our Club’ Day!
Thank you so much to our many, many members who joined in at our first Love Our Club day of 2024.
So much hard work, and so much was achieved – in between socialising of course! 🥰

Love Our Club days were established to combine a monthly social event, with phase one of our clubs growth plans.

We had so much and fun, and achieved so much!

Lots of tidying out, tidying up and ‘recycling’ of old items such as the huge tyres which are now beautiful planters at the entrance to the club. 😀

Indoors, outdoors and our outbuildings all tackled – making this first of our regular monthly events a very successful one. 👍

Launching Love Our Club Days 2024

Launching Love Our Club Days 2024

As well as launching boats back into the water this spring summer, we are launching Love Our Club days!

On the last Sunday of every month April – September inclusive, we will be holding a member’s social event. Come along for a chance to catch up with fellow members, welcome new members, and blitz some club maintenance. We have a varied club ‘to do’ list and as they say, many hands make light work!

The BBQ is ready to be fired up!

Will we see you there? 12pm – 5pm

It’s fair to say, like many of us, we hit our fifties and it’s easy to let things slip a little. We want to help our club thrive in its fifties! Having celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2022, it’s time for us, current members, to ensure the legacy of those who created this gem of a facility continues. It’s our shift to protect, maintain and develop our facilities for another 50 years! Read more

Thank you.

Thank you everyone who managed to make the GBC AGM. It was great to see you there, I hope you enjoyed the mulled wine and mince pies , and thank you to my bearded chef who stopped me burning everything..
It has been a pleasure serving as Commodore over the last few years through Covid and beyond and meeting so many people along the way, it was my time to step aside.
A lot has been achieved along the way and more to come, a special thank you to the people who supported me, it was your support that made the job easier.
To all the new members great to have you all onboard, the skiff will go from strength to strength (being a great success already). Please feel free to be hands on, as I am sure you all will be to support our new Commodore Gordon moving the Club along.
I wish Gordon all the very best in his new roll and Ruairidh as vice commodore, Anne and Neil for coming forward, Lynne, Helen , Alistair and Callum , Mike and Graham , thank you all so much.
I am happy to take up my new role overseeing the upgrade of our pier and pontoons for next season,

Red Angus
The X Commodore

And privileged.

End of the 2020 season’s letter from Glencoe Boat Club.

Dear all

This year has been hard and difficult for all, with this in mind I hope that you and your family /friends are safe and well.

There have been a few boats on the water making good use of the limited summer and quite good weather, we have been able to get the moorings inspected/repair the pontoon and put into place for your use, however this will be placed back onto the visitors moorings for the winter so we don’t have the same damage from the bad winter weather, while on the subject can I ask all boat owners on club moorings to take them off for the winter until next season please.

There are a few members that have not paid the club this year for either storage of boats or trailers and moorings even membership can you believe! This is a cheap club to be part of so not much to ask! You know who you are, and I ask you to please pay up before more drastic measures need to be taken by the club as it is totally unfair to all the other members.

This year we should be having a general meeting but under the circumstances of covid, I feel it to be unacceptable to ask any of you to turn up even outside.
So this year we will have our AGM in brief by email (reply to all), as I am not prepared to do it any other way, you know the drill, all committee members need to stand down in their roles and be reinstated or new committee members voted on, I will be letting you know sometime in November who will be standing for the post’s, I need to know how many of you wish to participate in the AGM, just give me your name and email address with a yes or apologies.

This year there are three committee members to my knowledge that will be standing down from their roles, these are (membership secretary, treasurer, and Commodore).
I am letting you know this so that you can think about helping in your club and commit to the running of the club. Without people to run it the club will not exist, please consider what you can do to contribute.
Simon as your Treasurer for a long time has been the most honest and efficient person for the job of treasurer, if only we could find another Simon.
Margaret who took over from myself as membership secretary when I became commodore has done a fantastic job and will be missed by her committee.
I myself am having to leave as commodore for personal reasons.
Please consider these positions as without them there is no club for you to enjoy.

Please contact me with nominations or volunteers for any of the committee positions.

I will speak soon by email about the votes the club needs to survive and who is standing for election. I cannot stress enough that without those positions being filled the club cannot exist.

Your Commodore
Colin Haste.
