The Committee has scheduled the Glencoe Boat Club Annual General Meeting for 13:00 on Sunday 1 March 2026.
A formal agenda and meeting details will follow in due course, but we wanted to give members early notice so you can plan ahead.
We look forward to seeing you there.
NB If you’re a member and didn’t get the notification email, please email to confirm your email address.
Happy to make the eagerly-awaited announcement that the Glencoe Regatta is returning this summer, with the Oban to Ballachulish Bay Passage Race (yachts only) scheduled for Friday 12 June and the Regatta itself (yachts, dinghies and hopefully some further racing for non-sailing craft) for Saturday 13 June. So please note the dates, with more details obviously to follow over the coming months. 🙂
Reminding Club members about our survey currently up at: https://forms.office.com/e/Vs4NaHkbW7
And requesting that you fill it in for us if you haven’t already done so to help us check/update our membership records and focus on what matters most to members as we plan for 2026.
The survey will be live till 31 January, should only take a few minutes to complete and we’re also expecting to leave some paper copies in the Clubhouse which you’ll be able to return to Committee members.
Thank you for supporting the Club and helping us plan for the year ahead.
Notification of the AGM will be issued in due course. We’d hoped to get back to ‘traditional’ November AGMs, but haven’t been able to arrange it for this month and are probably looking at sometime early 2026 now.
Please note also that we’re aware that a substantial amount of website content (past news items/calendar entries, multiple images and a couple of documents) has been lost; we’ll be working to restore/recreate what we can, but are sorry this may take time and we may not be able to recover everything.
Skiff rowers please note that winter rowing times starting from this week are:
* Sundays at 10:00am.
* Thursdays at 2:00pm.
So best not turn up on Thursday evenings like summer because it’ll be dark and Corrag should be safely tucked up in her shed! 😉
We were also going to upload the GPX waypoints for the possible shortened course line described within, but site’s not currently configured to accept .gpx, so please ask for these since we can’t offer them as direct downloads here.
Look forward to seeing you on the day and please remember we’re planning a barbecue at the finish for which you don’t have to be competing. 🙂
Here’s a really cool photo taken from Schoolhouse Ridge on Beinn a’ Bheithir and sent to us by Tim Parkin showing our skiff Corrag rowing as well as paddleboarders, kayaks etc on Loch Leven. So thanks to Tim for that and allowing us to use it here.
Skiff rowing continues to be as popular as ever with some extra longer rows joining the regular Sunday morning and Thursday evening sessions. For further info please contact Skiff Officer Gordon Milne on .
So the Port Ramsay Muster finally happened in Castlebay after a rough Saturday put paid to the original plan! Peter retreated from just north of Shuna in Fly that day and met Mark, who then also turned back, coming out of Ballachulish Bay in Mingming II. Meanwhile Gregor and Lorraine, who’d gone home after sitting out Storm Floris aboard Tina Louise, had arrived back at GBC ready to go cruising, and Club social sailing’s alive and well after we all set out again the next day and found our way to Castlebay for Thursday!
Glencoe Boat Club will be the Organising Authority for the Round Balnagowan Race on Saturday 23 August, which may alternatively be run on Sunday 24 August in the event of inclement Saturday weather.
The race is governed by the rules as defined in the Racing Rules of Sailing.
The race is from Glencoe Boat Club, round Eilean Balnagowan and back, and is for monohull yachts only, so no dinghies or multihulls. It will start not earlier than 10:00 BST, with full Sailing Instructions and entry forms published on or before Friday 22 August and the decision about whether to run the race as scheduled or postpone also taken that day.
The race is free to enter and open to any appropriate yacht so long as there is a Glencoe Boat Club member as nominated skipper aboard. It will be run as a single class using the Glencoe Boat Club handicap system with ratings/TCF based on appropriate available data issued by Glencoe Boat Club.
Skippers of boats intending to race shall complete and submit an entry form not later than one hour before the start. This form will contain specific statements that sailors:
agree to be bound by the Racing Rules of Sailing and the Sailing Instructions.
have their boat adequately insured, with cover of at least £3 million against third party claims.
accept the inherent risks to themselves, their crew, boat and others.
The sole race prize (for first place on corrected time) is the Wyvern Quaich, to be presented after the race and returned by the winning skipper as requested by GBC for its next running.
Venue to be confirmed on Friday 8 August, but probably Bernera Bay (B) or Port Ramsay (R), with less likely alternatives Achadun Bay (A) or Port na Moralachd (M).
Since we’ll be anchored overnight with no visitor moorings, food shopping or pub, participating yachts should be carrying appropriate ground tackle and provisions.
VHF channel for boat-to-boat communication will be 72.
