Love Our Club Day May fun and progress

Love our Club day in May saw another fantastic member turn out, to help with maintenance and improvements to support growth of our club.  Packed with fun and progress, it was also a wonderful opportunity to welcome new member Crispin who came along to meet as many members as possible.

The weather was somewhat drizzly, however that didn’t stop the progress, nor dampen the atmosphere.

The planters that were worked on last month are looking good, and some important maintenance was completed,

Lots of Housekeeping around the club (indoors and out) with out of date, broken or no longer relevant papers, equipment and general “stuff” recycled or binned.

Last month, Ruth had mentioned how wonderful it would be to have a bench outside to enjoy a cuppa and watch those on the water in the sunshine.

New member, Crispin kindly had a bench ready for Ruth to test out even before the BBG was fired up! Met by approval from many, as well as Ruth, it’s a wonder we coped without a bench by the club for so long. It’s been put to great use already. A light sanding, and a coat of oil to help keep with from weathering will be added to the maintenance ‘To-Do ‘ list.

Our skilled build volunteers took on some of the more serious maintenance tasks and incredibly Willie even made even after being out on a Coast Guard shout until 5am!.

We took a closer look at the clubs history – initially in relation to the trophies and then got drawn in to the minutes going back to the 1970s, time travelling back to previous meetings, events, trophy history and logo creation! In due course some of these will feature on our FB page and website.

We are delighted to have recruited two more committee volunteers, and to have reviewed our list of priorities for the summer.

Thank you to everyone who helped, indoors and out, and to those who donated food, and cooked the BBQ … it has been a really wonderful day. An added gift was photos of a shore clean up from a member who joined after most had left for the day!

Thanks also to those unable to be here, in person, but who’ve worked hard to plan today – we missed you.

SAVE THE DATE – The next Glencoe Boat Club Love Our Club Day is 30 June, 12pm-5pm.

We hope to see you there!
