Notice of Race
- Glencoe Boat Club will be the Organising Authority for the Round Balnagowan Race on Saturday 23 August, which may alternatively be run on Sunday 24 August in the event of inclement Saturday weather.
- The race is governed by the rules as defined in the Racing Rules of Sailing.
- The race is from Glencoe Boat Club, round Eilean Balnagowan and back, and is for monohull yachts only, so no dinghies or multihulls. It will start not earlier than 10:00 BST, with full Sailing Instructions and entry forms published on or before Friday 22 August and the decision about whether to run the race as scheduled or postpone also taken that day.
- The race is free to enter and open to any appropriate yacht so long as there is a Glencoe Boat Club member as nominated skipper aboard. It will be run as a single class using the Glencoe Boat Club handicap system with ratings/TCF based on appropriate available data issued by Glencoe Boat Club.
- Skippers of boats intending to race shall complete and submit an entry form not later than one hour before the start. This form will contain specific statements that sailors:
- agree to be bound by the Racing Rules of Sailing and the Sailing Instructions.
- have their boat adequately insured, with cover of at least £3 million against third party claims.
- accept the inherent risks to themselves, their crew, boat and others.
- The sole race prize (for first place on corrected time) is the Wyvern Quaich, to be presented after the race and returned by the winning skipper as requested by GBC for its next running.
