Thank you for Our First ‘Love Our Club’ Day!

Thank you so much to our many, many members who joined in at our first Love Our Club day of 2024.
So much hard work, and so much was achieved – in between socialising of course! 🥰

Love Our Club days were established to combine a monthly social event, with phase one of our clubs growth plans.

We had so much and fun, and achieved so much!

Lots of tidying out, tidying up and ‘recycling’ of old items such as the huge tyres which are now beautiful planters at the entrance to the club. 😀

Indoors, outdoors and our outbuildings all tackled – making this first of our regular monthly events a very successful one. 👍

Thank you to all four members for donating your time, your skills, your hard work, your ideas on the growth plans, and interest. Thank you for bringing food, refreshments, your knowledge and expertise to the day! It is very much appreciated – your club is growing and developing through your generous efforts.🎉

We enjoyed a meet and greet to welcome to all our new members too. Golly were they quick to get their sleeves up and pitch in too.🙋‍♀️

Some of us even got a row with skiff Corrag … with our favourite member… Cubby Bear! 🐻

The forward planning ‘to-do’ list remains in the club house, as we work towards our July ‘On The Water‘ open weekend event, so if you have a notion to volunteer for July please do add your name, as some of you already have 👍.

This year onwards we aim to attract local, national and global engagement with our wonderful club so please don’t be shy if you have skills, interests or ideas for building on what the club offers already we welcome you. 🎉

Looking forward to next month’s event already 😀

About Love Our Club days

It happens to the best of us, we hit our fifties, and well…we let things slide a bit. So, we felt it was time for a makeover!, Time to get our beautiful and impressive facilities ship shape again. And so cried “AHOY THERE SHIPMATES”

2022 – a changing tide
In all seriousness, like many club, we have struggled to return to the thriving activity we enjoyed before the COVID 19 Pandmeic, and saw decades long traditions of weekly racing and annual regattas cease. Our club celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2022, which began a period of determination and change to get back to thriving, and to help many more people enjoy the wellbeing benefits of being on the water.

2024 – a swell of support

2024, saw us engage new skills to our management committee, launch a new three year vision for consultation with members, and begin a series of monthly social events at which we would put a spring back in our club step through a series of upgrades. Lack of use had seen facilities and equipment decline.

Launched on 28th April ‘24, and thereafter being held on the last Sunday of the month until September ’24, we will enjoy a few months of voluntary activity, laced with fun,  to improve our club.
It’s an opportunity for members to come together in the up keep of our club. A regular social event with all help greatly appreciated. We even fire up the BBQ!
A giant but reducing ‘to-do’ list is posted in the clubhouse. From DIY skills to gardening, cleaning, and general hands willing to help.
Clubhouse fun
