Commodore’s Update.

All moorings inspected as Moorings officer has informed us / 33club and 3 private in 2 days not bad going .

When I got back from the north sea , I removed the old steel guide pin from the pontoon , and got Stuart at Chisholm’s to engineer a new one  , longer this time to allow for extremely high tides , but not fool proof if we have very stormy conditions at the same time .

The pontoons took a good battering on Monday (an Easterly ) saying that myself and Ruairidh took a battering also ,  one dingy getting damaged after being sucked under , pontoon lost 2 pins (now replaced ) and the outer end weld broke which I fixed with a bit of chain temporarily . all still useable and should last us this season .

The slip I honestly had no time , we moved the astro turf to one side on the slip and narrowed it to allow people to drag their dingys up and down with a bit of ease .

But the shingle etc needs removed to allow it to be jet washed to clean the weed away , there is a bit of a hole needs filled in ( I did it sorry) and the rest of the shingle can be used to repair the edge of the drive into the club , before it gets undermined. If a small team got together guidelines etc for covid , contact David Southcott for his availability and tractor (it worked very well last year) if possible scrape under the last section of pontoon and stick a few wee sections of astro turf to protect the floats .

The top car park has the potentional new pontoon (floats pending) parked but still allowing parking (angle and reverse of course) if going on a trip , but should seek alternative parking if for a very long trip .

The club has removed a few wrecks and boats that were of no use but deteriating  , thank you to the persons who dealt  with all the issues that go  with dealing with removals  and further removals pending , and in making a bit of money for our Club at the same time (which is needed for the work scope pending for the Jetty and other shoring up jobs in the future} .

Jobs needing done in the future would be completing the Skiff , see Dave Southcott if you have free hands for a small while or a long while .

The Clubhouse needs a freshen up outside , and it looks like the skiff shed also needs a freshen up , but to be honest lets enjoy that bit of relaxation first  , and if you are keen let us know , material will be provided , and you can crack on .

I would also like to thank Joyce , boat clubs next door Neighbor for looking after and providing the flower arrangements .

Use government guidelines when around the club , use hand sanitiser etc and safe distancing , please stay safe folks and enjoy the club ,

Thank you for all your help so far  , and appreciate all your help in the future ,

Regards GBC Commodore ,

Angus MacInnes.

2021 GBC Regatta Announcement

It is with regret that the committee of Glencoe Boat Club have taken the decision to cancel this years Regatta that was due to take place on the 11th & 12th June this year.

Due to ongoing Covid concerns and restrictions, it has been decided it would be best to cancel the Regatta this year for the safety of its members, visitors and the local community.

It has been tough times for everyone recently, so we hope to make things a bit easier  and safer for visitors, members and locals alike.
