The Glencoe Boat Club Skiff
The Glencoe Boat Club Skiff, began as a project in 2018 when the club decided to buy a St Ayles skiff kit and build our own rowing boat from scratch. But first, a suitable boat shed had to be purchased and built…
Luckily, we have a master boat builder among our membership! David (ex-Commodore of the Club) spent around 500 hours hand crafting the Glencoe Boat Club Skiff (with a little bit of help from other Club members!).
Our magnificent vessel was launched in 2022 and has become one of our clubs most popular activities since! Our team of members who established ‘Corrag” have created a wellbeing and adventure legacy for so many for decades to come.
You can do it too

Our Skiff ‘team’ is welcoming, relaxed and informal. We for a regular team of members that gathers, including a wide range of ages; Skiff rowing, known as coastal rowing, is suitable for everyone. Even wee Cubby, adorable local therapy dog, has enjoyed a turn!. You can learn lots more about coastal rowing here.
We gather twice a week to enjoy a row across the glistening waters of Loch Leven in groups of five. The thriving wildlife and marine life provides so much pleasure. As we hear the cry ‘easy oars’ and gently lift the oars out of the water for a few moments of quietly drifting, we get up and close and personal to otters, seals and the occasional dolphin! It’s breathtaking.
